Chicago Slip, Trip & Fall Lawyers

At Loren Siegel & Associates, LLC, we have more than 35 years of experience representing victims in complex and serious injuries and wrongful death cases arising from slips, trips, and falls at work or due to the negligence of others in maintaining and repairing homes, apartments, porches, decks, buildings, retail stores, warehouses, government buildings, sidewalks, industrial sites, construction sites, and more.

The most common slip and fall injuries occur inside buildings, from wet floors or spilled liquid, and at construction sites. Trip and fall injuries are commonly caused by the victim tripping over construction debris, worn carpet in offices, or a damaged step on a stairway. Other serious injuries from slips, trips, and falls occur to workers and residents in nursing homes and hospitals.

Property owners may be held liable for spilled liquid or debris that they have failed to clean up. They may be liable even if they did not directly cause the hazardous condition.

Slips, trips, and falls can result in a variety of serious injuries, including: • Broken bones & hips
• Concussions & Traumatic Brain Injuries
• Neck and back injures

What to do If You Are Injured in a Fall

When you experience a fall, it is important that you follow these steps:

1. Immediately Determine What Caused Your Fall: Look at the area around you and determine exactly what made you fall. You must be able to state exactly what caused you to fall. Take note of the object's shape, color and substance. If possible, take a picture with your cell phone.

2. Report Your Fall to the Property Owner, Store Manager, or Your Employer: Falling in the middle of a store in front of strangers can be embarrassing. But be sure to let the owner know what happened. Whether the fall is work-related or not, be sure to file an accident report. Major retailers all have accident forms. Fill one out and get a copy of the form for yourself, along with the name of who you spoke to. For work-related falls, a verbal notice of the accident is sufficient—but be sure to write down the date you reported your accident, to whom it was reported, and witnesses.

3. Medical Attention: If you need immediate medical attention, have an ambulance called for you or see your own doctor promptly. Be sure to give your doctor a complete history of how you fell.

4. Call your attorney at Loren B. Siegel & Associates: With more than 35 years of experience in personal injury and worker's compensation, we can help you receive full compensation for your injuries.
